My family and I spent some time at one of our local parks over the weekend. There was a gigantic Eucalyptus tree near the playground that had shed it’s bark and there were large bark piles on the park floor. I was absolutely stunned the beauty: the shapes (so modern!) the colors (those blues and purples!) and the patterns (where were those stripes coming from!?!?). And while I have long since admired the beauty of Eucalyptus leaves, seeds, pods and the healing properties of the tree (for example, one of our new wallpapers pays homage to the Eucalytpus) this was the first time I really stopped to admire the bark. I was captivated.
Me being the urban forager that I am, I stuck some pieces of the bark into my purse and brought it home.
Ida and I began playing with it, painting the pieces with paint pens.
We painted backgrounds for the bark, and then glues the painted bark pieces to the paper to create a collage.
