Honing ones eye to look out for inspiration is a lot like everything else, it takes practice. And after blogging daily for over five years, I do feel kinda expert at it. You could stick me on the most random city block in the most boring town in the world and I could find something to Instagram. When I’m at my desk one of my favorite ways to get my creative juices flowing is to thumb through my collection of vintage magazines. Sometimes I even scan in the pages so that I can take color swatches.
Vintage magazines are full of inspiration–from color palettes to font pairings, fashion to interiors. Sure, some of the content is super hokey, but tucked between the old pages are years meticulous, talented designers laying stuff out BY HAND and making things work without their mac-book pros—there is so much inspiration to be had.
To give you an idea of how I use vintage magazines for inspiration, I have created this holiday postcard inspired by this vintage magazine collection I put together on eBay. (My design is a free printable so feel free to click, download and share.) If you are having designers-block and need a place to go for a little bit of inspiration, follow my virtual collection of vintage magazines on eBay. You can also follow my Graphic Gods and my Art Attack collections for even more graphic arts ideas and inspiration. Dig my collections? They can be yours! Share them for a chance to win $25,000 from eBay. See rules here: www.ebay.com/shareitwinitsweepstakes

Hello, here is a site where you can view for free tons of fashion magazines in French and / or English. These little gems are valuable archives from 1879 to the present day.
